I think this is a very convenient, effective and easy tool to use.  I have been using google docs now for a while in planning my upcoming family vacation.  All my family members are at the moment in different cities and are using google docs to collaborate the planning of our entire trip, rather than emailing each other.

I can see  teachers using this to plan their field trips.  This could help them in planning and coordinating with the parents that accompany them as chaperones, the itineary, the meals, their sleeping arrangements, etc, and collaborate their entire trip with the help of google docs.  We are also talking about using google forms with room parents.   All parents can enter their email addresses and contact information this way in one form that can be then shared with one another.
