Thing 15 – Delicious
13 12 2008I was familiar with Ikeepbookmarks, had no idea there were so many other great resources for bookmarking.
I did sign up for Delicious and plan to use it more in the future. I did play with Tags, Subscriptions, etc. I can see myself using delicious and sharing this with my staff also. I am having to switch my thinking from folders to tags. Although tags makes a lot of sense where you can have multiple tags, whereas it is not possible to put in multiple folders. Or if one needs to put in multiple folders one has to repeat the function whereas multiple tagging does not require duplicate steps like adding favorites to different folders require. I chose to try importing my existing bookmarks from my various computers -school and home for a later time once i have organized them. I can see how this can help us be more efficient and stay organized with our bookmarks anytime, anywhere.
As an IT person, i have often been in situations where a computer crashed and all the data is lost. However what i see the teachers being most disappointed about is the fact that they lost their favorites/bookmarks, when their computer crashed, so this would be an ideal way for them to save their bookmarks.
